Lil Tecca
Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe, born August
26, 2002 is an American artist and rapper. The release of "Ransom,"
his 2019 single, helped him to become a household name. The single was included
on his debut mixtape We Love You Tecca (2019) which reached number 4 on the US
Billboard 200. The mixtape also contained the singles "Love Me" and
"Did It Again". His debut album, Virgo world (2020) was released on
the Billboard 200 at number 10. It contained the Billboard Hot 100
chart-charting songs "Dolly" and "When You Down". The
mixtape that he followed up with We Love You Tecca 2 was released in August
2021. It included the songs "Repeat It", "Lot of Me" and
others. Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe was born on the 26th of August, 2002, in
the Queens area of New York City to Jamaican immigrants. Sharpe was born in
Queens' Springfield Gardens, after which he moved to Cedarhurst on Long Island.
Sharpe had always hoped to join the NBA in his youth but at the age of 12
Sharpe decided to pursue his career in music. Sharpe graduated from Lawrence
High School. When Tecca was just nine years old, he adapted to his interest in
music by rapping with his friends over his mic on his Xbox. They would make
diss tracks directed at each other and one was uploaded to SoundCloud some time
ago, but was removed. At first, he did not have intentions to start music and
instead had dreams of being an NBA superstar. However, as he entered the middle
of his schooling, the basketball player lost interest and considered taking
music more seriously. His first track to gain some attention,
"Tectri", was created in collaboration with his friend, Lil
Gummybear, and was released in early 2017. Other tracks from his early days
include "Callin". The song that he topped the charts "Ransom,"
which was first uploaded to Cole Bennett's Lyrical lemonade YouTube channel on
May 22 of 2019, began the meteoric rise of Tecca. The song peaked at number 4
on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and has had over 800 million plays on Spotify
and over 300 million views on YouTube.
